ABOUT THE BLOG:
Sun Diego Eats is a travel and travel-inspired food blog based in San Diego, California.
Whether it’s an unpronounceable foreign ingredient, an unexpected flavour combination or an unusual dish that reminds you of something you had in the streets of Bangkok or Brooklyn I hope you come across something new. Like chewy Brazilian tapioca pancakes filled with dulce de leche and fresh coconut, a Thai-inspired parfait with sticky black rice and mango, or pillowy Italian panettone bread filled with chunks of dark chocolate and marzipan . And if you happen to live in San Diego (hi!) you can also find many reviews on lots of local dining experiences. Wherever you live you can find a travel guide to suit your fancy from Los Angeles to Paris to Beijing and everywhere (ok not really everywhere) in between.
Hi. I’m Joyce. I am a half-Chinese half-Brazilian Canadian Californian currently living in sunny San Diego . I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil moved to Toronto when I was 16 and have called San Diego home for the past
9 10 years. I enjoy living somewhere that has no seasons, trying new foods, my increasingly morbidly obese cats, travelling often, coconut everything and overusing parenthesis. I do not enjoy water chestnuts and folding laundry.
Ever since I was 16 my family has been bouncing around Brazil, Shanghai, Toronto, New York and San Diego so a lot of times the easiest way to see each other is to pick a spot on the map and meet in the middle. Travelling was always a big part of my life growing up and I love the food, the people, the sights and the stories that come with travelling and sharing them here.
Currently working on: finishing up posts on Split in Croatia, catching up on NY+LA trip posts, and you can expect upcoming posts this year on
Beijing, Toronto, Gansu Province in China and more Brazil :D
Thanks for reading and if you have any questions about recipes, restaurants or travel suggestions for any places I’ve been to e-mail me! I am the kind of person that legitimately puts together 30 slide Power Point travel itineraries for fun.
