Yayyyy it’s Friday! …And if its any indication these pictures mean my Croatia posts will be up soon. Also it’s extra link-y today.
First. These are all SO TRUE I can’t even handle it.
Who are these people that do not like coconut!!! What is the deal. Tell me what is there not to like. I think I have about 6 coconut products at home RIGHT THIS SECOND (and every second ever): shredded coconut, coconut chips, coconut milk, coconut cream, fresh coconut, coconut oil.
Banana Cake with Honey Salted Cream. What else is there to say.
I don’t even like bacon in desserts but how perfectly pitch black is pound cake. Side note: a couple years ago we had a bet with my dad that the saying was “pitch black” while he was sure it was “pit black”. Which does make a bit more sense. My dad learned English in his 20s but sometimes he wins these bets as he learned British English. This was not one of those times. We googled ‘pit black’ and surprisingly had a couple hundred thousand hits. Less fortunately for him they were “how to pit black olives”, “fastest way to de-pit black olives” etc. Ha.
How to make homemade almond milk that won’t curdle.
TRIED AND TRUE: Yayyy new section where I report on recipes that I tried out and which succeeded in being entirely awesome (you can also follow my ‘Tried and True’ Pinterest board):
- Alana’s spiced candied hazelnuts: The hazelnuts I had leftover from a work in progress healthy homemade Nutella recipe (too grainy I NEED A VITAMIX) and they were completely addictive. Bf asked me not to make them again because he will eat them all. This is actually his highest form of praise.
- Laura’s spaghetti squash with peanut sauce: Our first time having spaghetti squash and it was grrrreaat success (Borat voice).
- Betty’s homemade dumplings : Confession I f*d up the dumpling filling because I forgot to buy green onions and even so this was still so much better than anything you can buy frozen and not hard to make at all. Will likely never ever buy pre made wonton wrappers again. Will likely always start nibbling on the doughy edges of homemade dumplings like a gerbil.
- Molly’s shengjia bao: I added tons of green onion to the dough and then split them open and we made mini Talde-inspired sliders with sriracha mayo, cheese, sweet chili/bacon glazed shiitake and a sesame-ginger slaw. They were amazing, and yes bacon glazed means glazed with bacon fat. Will post recipe for this soon.
Not food related but….
How to lose weight in 4 easy steps…..must read. I promise it is not what you think and I am not a secret spokesperson for some sham diet milkshake company.
I bought a print of this Basquiat print to hang in our guest room. I am 100% convinced that the bf will hate it when it comes…especially because we appear to have completely different tastes in art + ok it may look like something you did in kindergarten. He also hates my favoritest painting in the world and is not impressed by abstract art – when all I want in life is a Pierre Soulages. WHAT. Its not like I want the Cloaca (SFW but…ew).
Rose gold ombre hair? Its a thing and kind of beautiful if you’re a blond.
I am completely in love with For Love & Lemons clothing lately. I’m going to Tulum end of April and feel like I absolutely need one of these sheer mermaid-y dresses to wear after the beach. But then its like ok in what other occasions in life is it acceptable to go about looking like a mermaid and wearing a see through dress. Then again this little number is a best seller on Revolve so maybe my opinion is a minority…I’ll probably just settle for the crop top.
